Nicky

Nicky has been here for a quick vacation with the kids.
She is the cutest! Springer Spaniels are so wonderful.
She is allowed on our sofa, as she has had a bath after swimming in the ocean.
Hold that dish down! I dont need a dishwasher any more? Well, maybe to rinse off the dog spit.
The 3 dogs and the 3 kids sure are fun together.

Gus loves to torment these little thingies

Every time Gus comes to visit, he gets at least 2 mice out of the cellar, brings them upstairs to show us. This one was unhurt, just very scared. Look at the poor mousie's eyes. Gus chased him all over the kitchen, and i was trying to take pictures.
The mouse played possum so well that Gus looked at the camera for a moment, and the mouse ran under the dishwasher.
But the next morning at 0430, we awoke to the usual MEOW, but a bit extra loud, and right beside his dish upstairs on the 3rd floor, was the mouse, quite dead.
What a grandcat Gus is.

Yes, it was BAD

Storm hit Friday, and there are people here on the Outer Cape still without power, Tuesday morning.
This picture is a house on Grove street towards the ocean, about 1/4 mile from us.
The big Maples in the Village are being sawed up and taken away, they had to use front-end-loaders to move the trunks, so that the DPW could work on them. Dangerous work, one of the huge ones just missed our little mini-grocery, damaged the roof a bit though.

Really unusual storm

What a weird storm, we had an "eye", got all clear and calm, so we went for a walk with Muffin.
Then about 30 minutes into the walk, whammo!, up came a screeching wind, temp dropping, and we turned tail and headed for home.
Gusted to 65 knots in West Falmouth, and we lost many many branches, but in the village, several trees came down, power was off for a long time. Not here however, as Daddy mentioned it was about time to start the generator as the sun had set, and our power was restored. Coal stove and wood stove keeping us toasty warm.
Look at the image, it shows almost 80 MPH!
And the Weather Channel gave us more than that, when the squall came across.
Everybody calling on the phone to see if we are OK, and people wanting me to check on their houses.
Then it snowed so hard you couldnt see anything, coated all the trees on the NW sides.
Whew, its nice today.
Sunday, we walked down to the beach, some damage and some smaller trees down, a big pine down on 29 Grove St., damaged their roof.
So sad about all the lovely old Maple trees in the Village. The DPW will have to saw them all up and take them away.
