Please donate to the animal rescue societies!

We have been giving to the Humane Society of USA and other organizations who are sending people and equipment to rescue pets in the aftermath of Katrina and Rita.
There are many places who are involved and the best way to find out and get the latest information, is to hit Google.

Save Pets From the Next Hurricane, by supporting this following bill. Please write or contact your representatives.

"The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act, H.R. 3858 (PETS Act), would require state and local authorities to include pets and service animals in their disaster evacuation plans. You could help save thousands of people and pets from anguish—even loss of life—during the next major disaster, just by asking your U.S. Representative to support this bill.

Help prevent what happened after Katrina from ever happening again. Take action now.

1. Please ask your U.S. Representative to support the PETS Act (H.R. 3858)."

Rainy day fun

We have had many days of rain here, making up for our drought thru summer and September. So when it rains, I cant mess around in the garden, and I am allergic to housework.
Thus, I love to fool around with Photoshop, and made these kaleidoscopes of our neighbors dogs.
The first one is Riley, and the second one is Skyla.

Full moon in Maine

Every time we go up to 5 Islands when there is a full moon, we get the most wonderful pictures of it off the porch. The moon certainly is a changeable object. Sunrises are pretty cool too.
Here are our latest pictures, September,

Max this summer

Heavens! Been a while, indeed.

Here we are October 2 already, whew, did this summer whisk by quickly.
To bring us up to date briefly, The last of July, August, and September were absolutly Heavenly.
The weather was hot, not windy, not foggy, perfect for water sports, biking, or whatever outdoor stuff we could possible do.
The ocean was unusually hot, (one reason that there is a bit of dinoflagelate goo around now), but all in all, was just a perfect summer.

We bought 2 kayaks in mid August, and found that kayaking is addictive. Only one problem, cant take Muffin with us, so we do continue to canoe about half the time, so that we can take her too. She prefers the fresh water lakes(we do too in mid summer, no people, no crowds like the ocean beaches have).

Today we kayaked up the Sandwich marsh, Mill Creek. Its about an hour in, to the end, and an hour out. Go in on the Boston High tide, and when you reach the end, its just turning to go out.
We got to the railroad bridge over the creek just as the Cape Cod Scenic Railway was crossing, and all the tourists were waving out the windows at us. I held up my beer can, and the Engineer gave me a thumbs up.
We dont bring the digicam in the little boats, so unfortunatly, we have no pictures to show, except for the topo map. Met some people from Houston here on vacation who had just bought a Casio digital camera and gotten an underwater housing. We NEED one badly.
So thats what this summer was mostly about, outdoor fun. My Photoshop lessons have suffered, but we have a winter coming, and plenty time for our studies and reading too.
